Information
This session will present examples of what the Digital Promise’s AI Literacy Framework looks like in action at districts across the US. We connect AI literacy skills to initiatives that educators have discussed and implemented together with emerging technologies for decades, such as computational thinking, data literacy, digital citizenship, and media literacy. We will describe essential components of AI literacy for participants to adapt to their contexts and articulate how users engage in understanding and evaluating AI systems and tools, which are underpinned by Core Values that emphasize the importance of centering human judgment and centering justice in any application of AI. Informed users are essential for the safe and effective use of AI. Participants will engage in interactive discussions to explore how to apply the AI Literacy framework in their contexts as they work to integrate AI literacy across the curriculum for all learners, educators, and community members. Together, we can ensure the responsible adoption of emerging technologies.
